Frankfurt, Germany – 18th January 2010 – Sword CTSpace’s document management and collaboration workflow application is being used by Union Investment Real Estate on their latest project, the EMPORIO in Hamburg. Union investment has been given the task of modernizing the building, which is listed as a heritage site, to the new high standards of material and energy efficiency. The Sword CTSpace solution is being used in the distribution of documentation and to facilitate greater coordination on the project.

In 2007, Union Investment appointed Sword CTSpace to streamline the coordination of document workflow and to facilitate project communication between project teams. With 450 document applications performed per month and a functionally-rich integrated message system, the solution has already garnered a huge adoption rate in the early project phases. Since the beginning of the construction work in mid July 2009, the use of the system has increased even further with the project’s correlating increase in participants.

The EMPORIO quarter in downtown Hamburg consists of the former Unilever building and a new building complex with office and commercial space, apartments, and a hotel with 325 rooms. The Unilever building is a heritage listed site undergoing refurbishment; HOCHTIEF Construction will perform all the refurbishment work and at the same time add two extra stories on top of the building. Once the construction work is completed, the two buildings will have a total usable space above ground level of approximately 650,000 square feet. Construction work begins in early 2009 and will be completed by 2011.
